Support group leaders

     This is an opportunity to serve future home educating families and enlarge your influence and vision.

     MACHE has worked to put together a workshop for support group leaders that answers the common questions most families ask when they are considering home education.

     Benefits for your support group in sponsoring this workshop:
  • provide a helping hand for your support group leaders in dealing with the homeschooling inquiries they and their group members receive
  • promote their support group as a place for home educators to get help
  • help people beginning homeschooling get started on the right foot
  • connect beginning home educators to a support group and other home educators right away
  • promote home education in general among your network of relationships and in your communities

What is the content of the workshop?

     The workshop covers all the common questions that beginning home educators or people considering it for the first time are asking.

  • Legal requirements
  • What does it take to get started
  • Am I qualified to home educate my children
  • How to make decisions about curriculum
  • How do you decide if this is the right choice for you and your family
  • What are the advantages of home educating your children
  • What are the costs, both financial and other ways
  • What are the differences between home education and other alternatives
  • What about socialization of my children
  • What about older children and high school - I don't think I can do it
  • Parents will be challenged to examine their underlying goals and objectives
  • How does this work
  • Your support group decides that you want to host this workshop and you contact MACHE.
  • MACHE workshop leaders will contact your support group leaders and help you prepare for promoting and putting on the workshop.
  • MACHE workshop leaders will put on the workshop, providing the main speakers for your event.
  • MACHE workshop leaders will assist you in planning for how to respond to people who want follow up help in deciding to home educate.
