Upper Story Mysticism

This upper story mysticism can be illustrated by Bernard Berenson, the greatest authority on Renaissance Art. He believed and taught that man was only an animal and thus you could only expect man to behave like an animal. Yet he ranted and raved about how modern artists betrayed the beauty of Renaissance art. Upper story mystics know there is something wrong in immoral living but don't know why they know it. Man is something more than he says he is and shows it in his feelings. The Bible tells us why this tension exists. Salvador Dali's later paintings show that mysticism has no real base.
