Firm Foundations

Homeschooling is a great privilege and blessing, as well as a big responsibility. There's so much to learn as a homeschool parent! That’s why this workshop is filled with relevant information to assist you in providing an excellent education for your children in the elementary years. We’ll discuss choosing curriculum and learning styles, teaching multi-grade levels at the same time, schedules and planning, MN homeschool laws, avoiding resistance and burnout, developing a love for learning and more! Whether you’re new to homeschooling or you’ve been at it for a while, this workshop will give you guidance and direction for your homeschool journey! Please Note: This is a training workshop for homeschool parents; come prepared for an interactive and informative time of learning more about homeschooling. There will be no childcare provided for the Firm Foundations workshop.

High School and Beyond

Homeschooling through high school might seem intimidating, but be encouraged! These can be the most enjoyable and influential years you have with your teens. This seminar will help you develop a comprehensive 7-12th grade plan. Starting with a strong academic foundation of high school courses and credits, you will learn how to individualize your students’ education based on their graduation goals. You will also learn how to create a transcript, include earning college credit in high school with PSEO and CLEP, and explore the guiding steps for career exploration. Parents and students alike will gain confidence and be encouraged to homeschool through high school as they see the big picture unfold and create a vision for these extraordinary years.

Teens are encouraged to attend with you at no charge!

Firm Foundations, by Kris Cox

Kris and her husband Bruce homeschooled their four children for 17 years, finishing their homeschool journey when their youngest graduated in 2011.  Kris's passion for encouraging and helping homeschool parents led her to become a homeschool consultant in 2012. Along with consulting, Kris writes a homeschool blog www.krismcox.com and speaks on various homeschool topics for homeschool groups. She also leads a Smoothing the Way Course/Support Group for new homeschoolers each school year.  Kris served as the phone responder for MACHE from June 2013 to December 2016 and currently co-presents the Homeschool Workshops put on by MACHE in cooperation with various support groups throughout the state. In all these endeavors, Kris strongly encourages seeking God for guidance in every decision and struggle, believing that the key to successful homeschooling is depending on Him.  Her heart’s desire is to serve the Lord by supporting and encouraging homeschool parents, giving them the tools they need to be successful in educating their children.

High School and Beyond, by Cheri Frame

Cheri enjoys working as an educational consultant to share resources, equip parents, and encourage students to graduate with a vision for their future. As a veteran homeschool parent, she founded Credits Before College where she specializes in the areas of high school planning, career exploration and maximizing affordable college opportunities through credit-by-exam and dual enrollment. Cheri is also a dynamic workshop presenter, author, and Certified Career Direct® Consultant. She provides one-on-one consulting services and shares a wealth of information on her website CreditsBeforeCollege.com.

Cheri and her husband Tim, a high school math teacher, live in Ramsey, Minnesota. Besides home educating their children from kindergarten through high school, Cheri taught courses at local homeschool co-ops and worked as an administrator of the Peabody Academic Achievement Test. Her current work is a result of the lessons she learned while serving a one-year missions experience at a K-12 missionary school in Indonesia with her husband and three kids. Her heart is to strengthen families and encourage students to pursue Him and the calling He has placed on their life.
