The Inside Connection: Emotions and Learning

(Johann Marsland and Jen Beyst will be co-presenting this workshop.) We will examine the brain-based connection between emotions and learning revealed by recent research, and we will explore practical strategies for positively affecting today’s learners. Learn how the effects of emotion on the brain’s cognitive functions, how limbic system responses affect prefrontal cortex activity and a person’s capacity for problem solving, and how the hippocampus is limited and released by emotional responses and how this affects memory fluidity and creation. Then learn five ways to make a positive impact on motivation, emotions, and learning.
